Still life
CHARCOAL on paper
PROCESS
REFLECTION
What techniques did you try and master? Fail?
I tried to master the technique of smooth blending using willow charcoal and a tortellian, and failed miserably. The larger sections look blotchy and uneven, which I was able to fix on printer paper but not on the textured paper I used for the final piece.
What artists were used as inspiration in the self portrait? Why these artists?
I was inspired by the photograph I based the still life off of as well as Yemi. His skull looked 100000x better though. :(
Describe the evolution of the piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements.
Yo that's basically all in the powerpoint if ya take a looksie.
If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this? What evidence do you have to explain this?
I would choose a different piece of paper to do the piece on, something with less texture so that I could get a really smooth and consistent gradient.
